Steam Plough Club
TQ13 Newton Abbot, Großbritannien
About the club
The club is dedicated to ploughing engines, their implements, and diesel and internal combustion derivatives as part of the historical development of agricultural machinery.
The club was founded on 3rd December 1966 by Harold Bonnett, with 26 persons present at the inaugural meeting at the Great Northern Hotel, Peterborough. The aim was to promote demonstrations of steam ploughing and to compile a list of all owners of ploughing engines. By the end of 1967 the club had 39 members, rising to 65 by 1970.
The club holds an annual general meeting as well as member meetings and visits, including its own 60th anniversary event. Members have access to a quarterly journal, technical advice, working instructions, safety guidelines, and engine and implement records. The club currently has over 350 members worldwide, and membership is open to anyone with a passion for the subject, including engine owners, crews, museums, academics, researchers and model engineers.
