About the club
The Scammell Register is the organisation for anyone who owns, or has an interest in, this famous marque of lorry. The club counts over 350 members, including owners, ex-employees, ex-drivers and model makers. The Scammell works closed in 1988, but the Register continues.
The club was initially founded in 1983 as the Scammell Tractor Register, after the founder had the idea at the Great Dorset Steam Fair. The inaugural meeting was held in Honiton, Devon, on 12 November 1983. Originally open to owners of tractors built between 1922 and 1968, the eligibility dates were later extended to the full 1922-1988 production period, and the word 'Tractor' was removed from the name.
Members receive a quarterly newsletter with articles and news, attend regular meetings and can connect with like-minded people. Vehicle owners also receive free assistance with DVLA enquiries and vehicle registration. The club has grown to over 300 members across the UK and in countries including Holland, Italy, New Zealand, the USA and Canada.
