The club was formed in 1958 as the first commercial vehicle club. Members are kept informed of developments affecting their hobby through the Historic Commercial News, published eight times a year.
Among the best known activities are the London to Brighton Run, the Tyne-Tees Run and the Trans Pennine Run, open to buses and commercial vehicles over 20 years old. In addition, monthly regional meetings are held where members enjoy speakers, film and dvd shows, or visits to places of historic transport interest.
The society is a member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs and works with it to track legislation from Britain or the EU that might affect the use of historic vehicles.
